Biography

Ellie is an indie-folk singer-songwriter from Cambridgeshire, UK, known for creating organic, evocative music that blends storytelling, piano-led melodies, and lush vocal harmonies to create truly impactful songs. Performing regularly across Cambridgeshire and throughout the UK, Ellie appears both solo and with her band, offering intimate live performances built around vulnerability, connection and joy. Her distinctive piano-driven indie-folk sound has earned her recognition as one of the emerging independent folk artists in the UK.

Ellie released her debut EP I Know in 2006, leading to performances at major events and venues including Radio 1’s Big Weekend, O2 Indigo, and The Junction. In 2010, her music featured in an international advert for Rotary Watches, showcasing her growing influence as a British indie-folk musician.

After a thirteen-year break to raise a family and focus on her work as a music therapist, Ellie returned in 2023 with her debut album Sink or Swim - described by Fatea Magazine as a “terrific debut.” She followed this with her festive single This Christmas Morning (praised by Loud Women as “every bit as joyfully festive as it sounds”), and her most recent release The Balance EP  “a neat collection of songs evoking both modern indie-folk and the classic sound of that singer-songwriter golden age, which blossomed just as the sixties were subsumed by the seventies” - Dave Franklin, The Big Takeover.

Ellie’s music continues to resonate with listeners who find solace, reflection, and comfort in simple, captivating music. Her work connects deeply with audiences seeking meaning in authentic, intimate music; songs that invite moments of connection, reflection and comfort, as well as the musical storytelling that defines the best of the UK folk scene today.
